Eugene Faure was born at Seyssinet, near Grenoble, in 1822 and died at Bourg-Saint-Andeol, in 1879. This artist began his career by studying sculpture in the atelier of David d’Angers; but later decided to take up painting instead, initially exhibiting landscape subjects. Faure exhibited at the Paris Salon, his later works including genre and portraits.
