Art chose me from an early age, for I had a passion for drawing and painting as a young child, and I’ve had tunnel vision ever since’ writes Marcelle. ‘I work mainly in oils sometimes over egg tempera. My inspiration is the people, places and gardens in my life; simple activities, gardening, taking tea, which are oases of sanity in a seemingly frenetic world.’

Born in 1954, Marcelle studied at the University of Essex and Exeter College of Art & Design, under the printmaker Marek Laczynski. She then taught art for many years, in Devon, Surrey, St Helier in the Channel Islands and Bath, and now works full-time in her studio in Devon.

Marcelle has exhibited with the Royal Portrait Society, New English Art Club, the Royal Academy and the Royal West of England Academy, together with many galleries in the south west of England, and regularly here in Broadway for some years.  Her first solo show is being held in the gallery from 23rd November to 24th December 2019.
