Robert Jones was born and brought up in the small town of Rhymney in South Wales.  From an early age he became interested in photography and even considered it as a full time profession but was parentally encouraged to get a university degree instead.

 

For most of his working life he has worked in advertising and marketing which allowed him to be involved with the many genres of visual imaging but his passion has always been for landscape photography as it allowed him to spend as much time as possible in the wild outdoors, participating in his two favourite activities – walking and kayaking.

 

Although most of his images have been taken in Wales - the land he loves most – he has also travelled in other parts of the UK, Europe, Africa, the Far East, New Zealand and the USA. He has also written travel articles for magazines both in the UK and the USA and is a regular contributor to Cambria magazine.

 

His latest work draws him back to his initial days of photography where the medium was black and white. However, he now looks for a specific item in each image and enhances this by leaving it in its original colour so that it becomes the prominent part of the visual experience.
