| A painter of horses and racing scenes who lived in Marlborough, Wiltshire, William Sextie often painted formal horse portraiture in a similar style to Harry Hall. He was working at the same time as the discovery of photography and went to great pains to produce high quality work of precise photographic accuracy. He was, without doubt, an artist of considerable ability, yet he only exhibited one painting at the Royal Academy, a portrait of a hack belonging to the Earl of Granville. |
