British painter Rebecca Barnard was born in 1961 in Essex. From 1982, after a foundation art course at Braintree Technical College, she took the opportunity to go abroad for what was intended to be a gap year, but which turned out to be a life changing five year journey, living and working in Austria whilst travelling extensively around Europe, and later, Australia.

 

Following her return, she took commissions for both corporate and private clients, eventually returning to art college (the Heatherley School of Fine Art, Chelsea) in 1994 to study mixed media. Since then, she has been developing her work and exhibiting, and has for some years been showing successfully at art fairs and in exhibitions and galleries around the country.
