Paul Banning is mainly a plein air painter and loves the challenge of painting direct from the subject whenever possible; he travels extensively and is constantly looking for interesting subject matter.  He started teaching watercolours in 1986 and has gained a high reputation for his skill and patience in teaching amateur painters. He has run many painting holidays in Europe and the UK and writes regularly for a number of art journals.

 

Paul Banning has exhibited in solo and group shows in France, Holland, Italy, USA, Dubai and in many UK galleries. He has also exhibited in the RA, RI, C21, ROI, RSMA, NEAC, the Singer and Friedlander watercolour competition (2003, 2006, 2007) and the Lynn Painters Stainers Competition 2007.  Prizes include: Freshfields Prize at the RWS C21 Exhibition 2000; Llewellyn Alexander Award RI 2002; Society Painting prize, Armed Forces Art Society 2005; Chelsea Art Society Painting 0prize 2004; Armed Forces Art Society Exhibition, best picture depicting at Army subject 2007.
