Mary Theresa Gillies studied at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen where she gained a BA (Hons) in Drawing and Painting in 1993. As well as having numerous exhibitions in Scotland and London, she is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Glasgow Institute and Royal Scottish Academy.

 

Mary Gillies has received several awards, including the George Davidson Travelling Scholarship (1992) and the RSA John Kinross Travelling Scholarship to Florence (1993).  In 2000 she received a commission for three portraits for the BBC series Brotherly Love. Her work is held in a number of private and public collections, including Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen and Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust, Aberdeen.
