He was a caricaturist and illustrator who contributed to many of the sporting publications of the day. He was also a contributor to Punch. His work is light, humorous and pleasing and he had a better use of colour than many caricaturists. His style was not dissimilar to that of Leech. George Finch Mason was also a journalist and in this vein also contributed to various sporting publications. He wrote a book called Sporting Recollections, published by Fores, in which he recounted many sporting tales of his past.
