Michele White is an acclaimed British contemporary Jewellery Designer Maker
producing innovative and progressive collections in precious metals and gemstones.

Jewellery Designer and Gemmologist Michele was born and educated in London. In 1970 she relocated to Birmingham, where for several years she was a teacher of autistic children. However, in the pursuit of a means of self-expression Michele enrolled at the Birmingham School of Jewellery, where she learned the traditional techniques of working with precious metals. She was the winner of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists National Prize in the year 2000.

From the beginning Michele White’s philosophy in jewellery making and design has been that it should be a mixture of Art and Craft. Michele drew much of her inspiration from the Art Nouveau Movement, particularly the philosophy of Rene Lalique mixing gemstones of great value with others of great beauty but little value Michele’s jewellery has an organic movement she use gemstones, both precious and semiprecious with gold and silver.. trying to combine beauty and function.

Michele comments: "Each unique gemstone inspires its own design. The shape and the markings of semi-precious stones can be enhanced by the sensitive use of the metal. Silver and 18 carat gold together complement each other. Many of the gemstones I use have markings that are reminiscent of landscapes. They often look as though they were painted by an artist, but are completely natural."
