Living in
Oxford for the past thirty years, Rose Wallace has had a passion for ceramics since 1998. She graduated from
Buckinghamshire
New
University in 2008 where she was fortunate to study under International Ceramic Artist, Neil Brownsword R.C.A. and Master Potter, Kevin Milward. She then took up a residency invitation to the International Ceramics Research Centre,
Denmark. The resulting exhibition work entitled ‘Bingeing
Britain’ was selected for the permanent collection at International Museum of Ceramic Art, Denmark.
Rose still retains links with the
Buckinghamshire
New
University in the role of their Artist in Residence and ceramics short course tutor. Whilst Rose is busy undertaking exhibition invites and commission opportunities we are fortunate to have some of her endearing pieces at
John Noott Galleries.
Rose herself states ‘I am inspired to draw parallels and create comment by responding to observations sourced from our rich contemporary culture, employing associations from everyday objects that contain strong cultural or symbolic meaning to convey this visual language. Employing specialist and redundant industrial techniques and traditional glazes, my working methods draw upon my passion for our rich and abundant ceramic history’.
