Jonas Plosky was born in Llandudno, North Wales in 1940. He moved to London at an early age where he studied at Hornsey College of Art before leaving to become a designer and illustrator. He has painted and exhibited all his life, travelling extensively throughout the British Isles in search of that craggy remoteness which features so strongly in his landscape and coastal scenes. The work of Jonas Plosky displays a strong affinity to his native North Wales and returns repeatedly to the themes of Blaenau Ffestiniog and the hill farms around Snowdonia. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy since the early 1960’sand at the Royal Society of British Artists. Jonas Plosky’s paintings can be found in the permanent collections of Glasgow Art Gallery and Museums, The National Library of Wales and the University of Portland, Maine, USA.
