An Italian painter of genre subjects, Antonio Paoletti lived and worked in Venice, and his subjects, which often included children, captured the flavour of life there in the 19th Century. However he sometimes painted in a much earlier style, for example, the ceiling of the Church of the Madonna is attributed to him. He exhibited in Milan, Turin and Rome, and a work by him is held at the Sunderland Museum.
