Sylvia Owen began her career in teaching, but subsequently studied for and gained a BA in Ceramics in 1994 from the University of Western England in Bristol. She now works full-time from her studio in Somerset, producing figurative ceramic sculptures of people, animals and birds using the ancient raku method of firing.
Sylvia Owen has a production range of pieces – some press moulded and others slipcast, then modelled on top, and all individually finished. She also makes individual, one-off ceramic pieces and in addition she works in bronze resin. Some of her work is suitable for garden use. |
