Susan Luker obtained her HND in Ceramics and Glass at Plymouth College of Art and Technology and now has her own workshop in a quiet corner of rural South Devon. As well as being a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen she is also an Associate Member of the West Country Potters Association.
Susan Luker makes ceramic hand-built slab forms which are raku fired. She
finds her inspiration in the countryside: pebbles, rivers, fish, streams, found objects and the seashore are what one sees in her smooth forms, with rippling lines of copper, blue and green glazes. She says that making the pots is a labour of love and she strives to create very tactile sculptural pots, each one with unique crackle markings.
