Anna Lever turned from paintings to ceramics several years ago. She concentrates on hand -built earthenware and stoneware figures which are coloured with commercial stains and underglazes. She draws her inspiration from many sources: the paintings and sculptures of Picasso, Chagall, Botero, Brancusi, Renoir, Stanley Spencer; the saucy postcards of Donald McGill; and all humourous aspects of modern life as depicted on such programmes as BBC Television's "Come Dancing". Lately, she has been influenced by 19th Century Staffordshire flatback pottery.
Anna is a member of the Oxford Art Society and a Member of the Oxfordshire Craft Guild. She has participated in many group exhibitions including:
Royal Society of British Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London, annually from 1990 (Winner of the Exhibition's Annual Sculpture Award, donated by the Cross Gate Gallery, Lexington, Kentucky, USA, in 1990.) She was elected as an Associate Member in 1995.
