Surprisingly, Landanski is entirely self-taught.   His passion and interest in the female form has derived from observation of ballet movement and fashion, often being helped by life models adopting a series of classic poses from which his interpretation can evolve.   Over the years he has collected a large photographic library depicting some of ballet’s more beautiful movements.

Traditionally Landanski works in wax, having first built an armature or support for the material.   He then layers the wax and crafts it into the required shape using a selection of tools made specifically for the task.
