| A painter, commercial artist, fabric designer & teacher, Karl Hagedorn was born in Berlin but settled in England in 1905 and trained in textile production. He attended Manchester School of Technology and Manchester School of Art, the Slade School of Art, and Maurice Denis School in Paris, where he acquired Cubist and Futurist influences. Hagedorn's later work was more conventional. By the outbreak of the First World War he was a naturalised British citizen and he served in Army and produced war pictures. Karl Hagedorn showed at the Fine Art Society, AAA NEAC RI and elsewhere, and works by him are in collections in the British Museum,the V & A and the Manchester City Art Museum. |
