Born in 1970 in NE England, the sculptor Daren Greenhow now lives and works in Oxfordshire. His life-long passions of creation and innovation are both expressed strongly in his metal sculptures. These original, unique, intriguing pieces are always immediately identifiable as his work.
After a career as a research scientist and physical chemist in the agrochemicals industry, Daren Greenhow is now concentrating on sculpture. He became interested in the considerable challenge of producing unique works from discarded bicycles, beginning with utilitarian objects (tables, standard lamps, clocks etc.) which led inexorably to sculptural forms and his current career path. He thrives on the most difficult challenges from unique commissions requiring extensive research, innovation and the mastering of new techniques.
Daren Greenhow’s medium of choice is reclaimed steel, mostly bicycle parts, using welding as the primary joining technique. His work is both figurative and abstract, indoor and outdoor, and subjects include the human body and wildlife. |
