| A London landscape painter who began life as a railway clerk, Alfred Augustus Glendening exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1865 and 1903 as well as at the British Institution and Suffolk Street. Subjects include views on the Thames, in the southern counties, Wales and Scotland. A A Glendening's son and pupil was Alfred Glendening Jnr. Both painted broadly realistic landscapes in a style similar to that of Alfred de Breanski Snr. |
