After studying fabric design at Chelsea and Fine Art at Bourneville College of Art, Eithne Donne was attracted increasingly to painting. Taking an Open University course in Italian Art of the 15th and 16th centuries reinforced this.
As a result of walking in the country and towns of Europe, like many before her she has been attracted to the light and colours in Tuscany and Provence and the enchantment of Venice. Eithne Donne’s paintings, almost always in acrylic, owe something to her admiration for Rothko, Diebenkorn and Blue Rider Group, but her distinctive style is all her own.
Eithne’s paintings are regularly on show at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, of which she is a member, and have been selected for the Royal West of England Academy annually since 1994. Her first, very successful, solo show was held here in Broadway in 1997, and since then many shows have resulted in her work being bought by private collectors internationally. |
