Born in London of Spanish parents, Monica Andres discovered her passion for sculpture in 1989 at the Guildford Adult Education Centre, where, under the solid guidance of Trevor Collis, she learned her basic craft. After completion of her training Monica decided to further her career in the U.S.A., working in the Van Noorden Sculpture Studio, and showing at a number of exhibitions in the Palm Beach area.
On returned to England some years after, Monica Andres also established herself here as a successful and respected artist. She has received commissions from the Heredities sculpture company to design pieces for them; and has exhibited with the Surrey Sculpture Society and the Society of Women Artists in London.
Monica Andres’s figurative sculptures dwell on the themes of movement and relationships, often featuring children. To capture the joy and essence of childhood, whether it be a commissioned portrait, or imaginative study, is something she finds particularly satisfying.
Monica has recently returned to live and work in America.
